Glycolic Acid Peels
Glycolic Acid Peels are derived from sugar cane. They have the smallest molecular structure in the Alpha Hydroxy family and therefore can penetrate into the skin deeply. Glycolic acid is not absorbed by the body and therefore does not cause any systemic side effects. Glycolic acid loosens the “gluelike” attachments or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as discolouration, acne or ageing. After a few weeks your skin looks brighter, clearer and dry skin becomes hydrated and smooth. Glycolic acid peels will therefore resurface the skin, giving dramatically softer, smoother texture, reducing fine lines and wrinkles, and reducing scarring. A course of six peels is recommended for optimum results over a six to twelve week period. Glycolic acid peels can be superficial or medium peels, depending on the skin condition we are treating.
